Filled with strange beasts, terrible villains, brave heroes, shooting stars and bowls of wrath, Revelation is a book in the Bible that many of us stay away from. It’s just so different, so weird. We wonder if it might just be about times that are somewhere in the future but not for us. But when we read the book well, we can find that God has a powerful message for us today through Revelation. Join us as we pull back the curtain and look at our world from the perspective of God’s throne room.

Sometimes Satan uses a stick (persecution) to try to force Christians to deny Jesus. But more often it seems that Satan uses a carrot to try to draw Christians away from Jesus. Sometimes Satan wants us to focus on all the shiny and beautiful things in this world so that we lose our focus on Jesus. This morning we’ll see the vision that John was given to remind us that nothing in this world is worth losing our souls for.

Sun Tzu once said, “Know your enemy.” He believed that when someone is against us, it is important for us to understand who they are and how they fight. In Revelation 12 and 13, John takes a break from describing the judgments that are unleashed on the world to give us an extended vision of the way that the spiritual forces of evil fight against God and His people. John calls us to know our spiritual enemies so that we can stay faithful in our battles.

The Lamb who is worthy is about to open the scroll which will unleash God’s wrath and judgment onto the world before all things are made new. In the midst of God’s wrath, who will be safe? Who is able to stand? John’s vision in Revelation 7 shows us that those in the lamb are able to stand! In a broken world, those who are in the lamb are sealed and sent to love.
